2018 Met Gala Fashion Recap – Clementines

2018 Met Gala Fashion Recap

Forget the Emmys, forget the Oscars, forget the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show even - the biggest fashion event of the year is always the Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual Costume Institute Gala. The hottest celebs of the minute flock to the iconic steps on New York's 5th Avenue for this multi million dollar fundraiser and opening of the museum's annual fashion exhibit. If you love a good costume party, then the Met Gala is for you - and this year certainly didn't disappoint.

Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination might be a surprising theme for a celebrity-ridden flaunt of all things fashion, but I'm here to break down our favorite (and least favorite) looks from the evening (and maybe a little on how you can incorporate them into your own wardrobe, too).

Katy Perry at the 2018 Met Gala in Versace

Katy Perry does classic Katy in this winged Versace ensemble. Honestly, it's amazing, but I can't help but feel a little underwhelmed by this look purely because Katy's the one wearing it. Haven't we seen this already? Also, how did she sit down?

Rooney Mara at the 2018 Met Gala

It's a little insufferable how Rooney Mara can wear just about anything, but man - j'adore this icy blue embellished-yet-minimal gown. It reminds me of a mega-glam version of our Derby Punch in Chalk Blue by Rollie

Shailene Woodley at the 2018 Met Gala

Oh, Shailene. It was a nice try, but how could anyone's Joan of Arc impression ever measure up to this...

Zendaya at the 2018 Met Gala in custom Versace

Yup. That's how you do Jeanne d'Arc, Zendaya - in custom Versace!

Evan Rachel Wood at the 2018 Met Gala
Evan Rachel Wood is killing it (quite literally) on this season of Westworld as well as in this dress. We can't help but think about the Melissa x Vivienne Westwood Honey Sandal at the sight of all these guilded feathers - and we're sure a Melissa memory foam sole would helped with a long night museum-hopping!
Anne Hathaway at the 2018 Met Gala
So many crowns at this year's Gala, but Anne Hathaway's was simple and striking without overwhelming. Want a fun way to incorporate Anne's look into your own wardrobe? Wear your crown on your feet in the Melissa x Vivienne Westwood Anglophilia slide sandals, or the Noa Heel by Miista in that beautiful bright ruby red!
Amanda Seyfried at the 2018 Met Gala
I'm a sucker for a blonde in bright yellow, so I keep thinking about Amanda Seyfried's gorgeous, buttery gown. Can you say dream dress?
Mindy Kaling at the 2018 Met Gala
Funny lady Mindy Kaling has been rocking some uber-cool styles lately, and I love this Catherine the Great-inspired ensemble.
Rihanna at the 2018 Met Gala
Rihanna has been the unabashed star of the Met Gala for years now, and this year she's even a residing chair! Twitter had a field day comparing this getup to HBO's Young Pope, but I can't help but see a resemblance to my favorite painting, Konstantin Makovksy's The Russian Bride's Attire
Tracee Ellis Ross at the 2018 Met Gala
Hot pink isn't always my go-to when getting dressed for Mass, but Tracee Ellis Ross clearly knew otherwise! Try your hand at a more subdued version in these gorgeous Intentionally Blank Contrast stacked heels in pink!
