Toit Volant - Fashion and Planet Heroes
Elsi from Egg Studio first showed me the line Toit Volant. She knew that both the line and the philosophy supporting it would be right up my alley. And she was absolutely right!
Toit Volant (which means Flying Roof in French) is dedicated to making apparel that is ethically sourced and earth friendly. Workers enjoy a clean environment and fair wages. Toit Volant is proving that all of this is possible without charging their customers exorbitant prices. Win, win!
And the clothes! Described as versatile, effortlessly bold, playful, and adaptable - might I add that when wearing Toit Volant I am often stopped by women on the street who ask, "Where did you get that dress?" So, you see, Toit Volant is good for the planet, good for the woman seeking fun & responsible fashion, and good for Clementines :)
About the designer- Alnea Farahbella has an extensive fashion background, and has taught at Pratt Institute New York, Parsons, The New School as the MFA design studio manager, and Raffles Institute Asia. She describes herself as loving dogs and dress making. (She had us at loving dogs.) This photo captures her sense of humor and lightheartedness, qualities that we think you'll find abundantly apparent in her designs.
