Small Business Saturday
Many many years ago, I used to work at an outlet mall. In fact, my first day of work was Thanksgiving night into the wee hours of Black Friday - my sister and I shuttled to our jobs at separate retail stores at this outlet mall and slogged through the night.
It's no secret. Black Friday can be a beast, but who can resist a good deal?
Seattle's become a hub for Amazon, Microsoft, and so many other big-business buddies. It's so easy to only shop the Big Guys because that's who we see everywhere. But Seattle's also a mecca for small businesses run by fashionistas and families alike. Shopping small allows you to support real people in real ways - at Clementines, we carry more than 50% local brands from companies designed and run by women.
That's why we want to call attention to our preferred post-Thanksgiving shopping day: Small Business Saturday! From our seat in Pioneer Square, we love sharing the spotlight with so many other amazing shops and brands. Stop by our shop this upcoming Saturday to get a peek at some of our most exciting shoes and items for the holidays - and go visit our friends in the neighborhood while you're at it!
VELOURIA
Velouria is every hipster girl's paradise. Cool threads, amazing jewelry (that pistachio necklace??? Gimme!), as well as cards, zines, and gifts - is there anything Cat and Chika can't do? Each month they donate 2% of their sales to a charity of their choice. These uber-stylish ladies are just two blocks away from us on Jackson. Pay them a visit and tell them Clementines sent ya!
E. SMITH MERCANTILE
Want to shop and grab a cocktail all in the place? Drop by "Seattle's Retail Mullet", as they call themselves - the front of this super warm, brick-interiored shop is a space for apparel and gifts, while the back sports a trendy yet classic place for drinks and chatting. Designed after mercantile's from the owner's grandfather's hometown of Atlanta, ID, this small shop has become the perfect place to gather and gab.
FLORA AND HENRI
This beautiful shop boasts a super clean, sparkling interior laden with amazing products for both children and adults alike - clothing, books, cards, and gifts galore. Step into a fairyland on 1st Ave. and see what sort of magic Flora and Henri has to offer!
We like to think of Division Road as Clementine's sexy bearded boyfriend. This shop on 1st Ave. boasts North American, Eastern European, and Japanese brands for the man in your life who loves glass of whiskey as much as a shopping spree.
BEYOND THREADS
Beyond Threads combines Peruvian craftsmanship and contemporary styling for some fabulous knitwear made of the finest alpaca, merino wool, and other natural styles. We carry some of Cristina and Alejandra's goods in Clementines, too, but for the whole experience, say hi to them on S. Jackson!
DRYGOODS DESIGN
We love getting to peer into Drygoods's windows every day from our spot right across the avenue! This bright and open shop offers fabulous fabrics in cute and funky prints, patterns, and yarn; as well as classes in everything from sewing basics to personalized denim.
MOMO
Ask us where to go and we'll always tell you to drop by Momo in the International District on S. Jackson. Momo has clothing for both men and women, plus adorable decor and gifts. It's one of our favorite places in the city and will be yours, too!
SANDYLEW
We love Sandylew! Her shop is located just across from Pike Place Market on 1st Ave, and is filled with clothing and accessories both fun and sophisticated. Pick up a pair of tattoo tights or a funky beaded necklace - the possibilities are endless!
ELM COFFEE
This super chic shop in Pioneer Square is a Clementines gal's go-to spot for meetings and a cup of joe. All their coffee is roasted on-site in the back of this industrial-inspired space, where they bring in beans from all over the world just for us to enjoy.
