The Weekly Roundup, Ep. VI

The Weekly Roundup, Ep. VI

Can you believe November is almost over? By this time next week, we'll (hopefully) all be in a post-Thanksgiving turkey coma and ready to crank up the Christmas music. In the meantime, we've already started getting ready for the holidays in-store! Come drop by to check out our fabulous holiday window display and a new selection of tree ornaments.

Here's what's happening in the minds of the Clementines crew this week:

VELVET EVERYTHING!

Shop owner Linda says "I love velvet! I know this fact doesn't distinguish me from most other women :) Surely the love affair began in childhood when velvet was reserved for special occasions. I can vividly recall every piece of velvet, from lined petticoats and ribbons on Easter hats, to full-on red velvet Christmas frocks.

Luckily for velvet lovers everywhere, this is your year! Velvet abounds. At Momo's 10 anniversary party I fell in love with a velvet hoodie. It should have been mine, but someone beat me to it :(

For fall, Clementines brought in 2 velvet booties from Miista and a velvet heel from Intentionally Blank. The Miista Lorelle bootie pictured above is mine! I could wear these daily - so comfortable! And, because I've given them a good dose of water repellent, I'm confident they'll brave inclement weather. Taking them with me this weekend to LA, because they're the perfect boot to wear with denim and they will great with my LBD."

I ♥️ YOU AMERICA

Pam says, "I am doing my best to practice a Buddhist way of spending my time in this short life that we all have, so I settled on my new favorite TV show, I ♥️ YOU AMERICA with Sarah Silverman. She transcends comedy and puts herself out there to look at both sides of who we are as people, sharing the same place on this small planet. Ultimately it comes down to our prejudice and choosing between love or hate. I choose compassion every time. Compassion is to relieve the suffering of others, not by sympathy, but by empathy. Empathy puts us in the unique opportunity to see and understand others, people who we might not agree with, ones that we may at first hate but ultimately realize that we are all the same. Sarah Silverman bravely does this."

BIG SONIA MOVIE

Jayma says, "I'm so proud to call the makers of this film my friends. After six years of incredibly hard work, Leah, Todd, and many others tell the story of BIG SONIA - one of the oldest living Holocaust survivors, mother, grandmother, inspiring diva, and lover of animal print! As we all know (or maybe not) animal print is always in fashion!" BIG SONIA is playing in select theaters across the country.

WINTER PROOF YOUR FEET

Blundstone-Boots-Clementines-Seattle

Blundstone boots are on Lauren's mind. "Since I embarked on an epic journey that was my first winter in Seattle, I have been searching for a comfortable and weatherproofed shoe, but not one that looks like an actual rain boot.  As all Seattleites know, you need something that is easy to wear with everything, simple to slip on, comfortable all day, and waterproof. I kept falling in love with this boot around Seattle on both guys and girls but never had to chance to ask the wearer the name. Then one day I walked into Clementines and had the pleasant surprise of seeing them on the shelf! These boots are everything I had hoped for and more and will go down in history as one of my favorite boots for many years to come. Thank you, Blundstone! We currently have them in four colors; burgundy, stone suede, black, and dark brown with olive.

HIGH FASHION AT CLEMENTINES

Seattle Met magazine calls clementines one of seattles best little shops.

Stephanie is obsessed with this shot from last week's photoshoot. "Our model Jennifer, photographer Spencer, and I spent last Thursday putting together a photoshoot for our new apparel online. We had Jen wear the Prairie Underground New Formal Dress, and matched her Quay sunglasses to the pink typography of this month's Seattle Met Mag - that's our shop on the cover! love this shot because it's so not the norm when it comes to Jen's personal style, but it embodies everything we love about Clementine's - fun, edgy, and surprising!"
